  • The C300 Mark III will have the same body as the C500 Mark II and use the same accessories

  • Dual ISO function when recording in XF-AVC
  • Anamorphic de-squeeze function and false-color built in for monitoring (no external monitor needed)

Canon Might Release A RF Mount Cinema Camera Soon, Report

EOS C100 Mark II rf mount cinema

A Cinema camera with RF mount might be on the horizon, according to latest reports.

A new rumor suggests Canon is already actively working on a new product line, a Cinema camera with RF mount. It seems Canon could place this RF mount Cinema camera on the same spot as the Canon Cinema EOS C100 Mark II. The form factor and the design might resemble the XC camcorder lineup,

Is Canon testing a new, possible market by releasing a RF mount camcorder, just to see how the demand will be? Possible. Moreover, it’s clear that the RF mount is set to shape Canon’s future. A RF Cinema lineup will come to stay, sooner or later.

We expect Canon to announce a new Cinema camera on April 20, 2020, during a livestreamed conference, most likely the Canon Cinema EOS C300 Mark III. The EOS R5 will not be announced on April 20, 2020, we expect the EOS R5 announcement before Summer 2020.

Interview With Astrophotographer Tony Hallas About The Canon EOS Ra

canon eos ra astrophotography

If you never heard about the Canon EOS Ra, it’s a modified EOS R camera and Canon’s full frame mirrorless offering for astrophotography enthusiasts.

The EOS Ra was built off the EOS R system combining new features, such as four times greater transmittance of hydrogen-alpha Hα rays (656.3 nm wavelength) through an infrared cutoff filter, which helps capturing high-precision images of the deep-red wavelengths emitted by nebulae in vivid color, without any special camera alterations. On board is also a 30x live view mode for highly precise manual focusing.

The video below by CanonUSA on Youtube features an interview with astrophotographer Tony Hallas about astrophotography itself and his experience with the EOS Ra.

Review: Sigma 16mm & 30mm & 56mm f/1.4 DC DN For Canon EOS M

sigma 16mm

A review for those interested in the Canon EOS M system: Sigma 16mm, 30mm, and 56mm.

Photography Blog posted their review of three Sigma prime lenses, the Sigma 16mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary, Sigma 30mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary, and Sigma 56mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary lenses for the EF-M mount.

From their conclusion:

While the 56mm is undoubtedly our pick of the bunch, all three would make great additions to the rather threadbare camera bag of a Canon EOS M shooter.

This is especially true for the wide-angle Sigma 16mm F1.4 DC DN C and the short-telephoto Sigma 85mm F1.4 DC DN C, as there are no direct rivals in the Canon range […]

It’s a tougher sell for the Sigma 30mm F1.4 DC DN C because of the EF-M 32mm f/1.4 STM, but even then the Sigma is pretty compelling simply because of its price […]

So, if you’re a frustrated Canon EOS M user who has outgrown their kit zoom and doesn’t want to adapt a Canon DSLR lens, the introduction of three well-built, high-quality, ultra-fast Sigma lenses in the native EF-M will be music to your ears.
