ePHOTOzine posted their full review of the Canon EOS M100, the company’s latest entry-level mirrorless camera.

From the conclusion:

The Canon EOS M100 is a compact mirrorless camera, that is easy to use, and results from the camera are good, with colourful images, that are detailed with well controlled noise. The majority of lenses available for the camera are compact, and perform reasonably well, making the camera system quite appealing if you’re looking for a compact camera with DSLR image quality.

If you’re looking to use it as mostly a point and shoot camera, then the M100 would be a good choice. However, if you’re likely to want to advance beyond point and shoot, then the lack of flash hot-shoe and external controls makes it less suitable. For beginners, this would make a great mirrorless camera, but for photographers, there are simply too many other choices available, with better features and often a lower price. The next step up, from Canon, would be the Canon EOS M6, which is much more suitable for serious photographers. Read the review…

Canon’s latest entry-level mirrorless camera, the EOS M100, got reviewed by Photography Blog. The small M100 get’s a lot of love in reviews.

From the conclusion:

Canon has created its simplest and smallest EOS M mirrorless camera with an APS-C sensor yet. The M100 can slide into a pocket and is capable of some lovely looking images.

You’ll get DSLR image quality, with the control of a point-and-shoot compact. Although the manual control is there, the Canon EOS M100 is definitely set up and geared to those that want the camera to get on with the job, with as little input was possible.

Canon’s full frame mirrorless camera might have a dedicated sensor [CW3]

Still nothing sure about Canon’s upcoming full frame mirrorless camera. Just a bit suggesting Canon will use a sensor developed specifically for their full frame mirrorless camera. No EOS 6D Mark II or 5D Mark IV sensor.

The suggestion  seems to come from an internal presentation at Canon. The announcement Canon’s full frame mirrorless camera might happen at Fall 2018.

EOS M1 is rumored to be the moniker of Canon’s full frame MILC.

We know Nikon is now seriously committed to mirrorless, let’s hope Canon eventually does the same.

These are the tidbits about Canon’s full frame mirrorless camera, these:

  • Dedicated full frame CMOS sensor
  • Different sources and sites were reporting that early prototypes exist, at least to be tested inside Canon’s labs. This intel came in 2016 and early 2017.
  • Canon is possibly working on a full-frame mirrorless camera with EF mount. There have been rumors saying that Canon is delaying this camera because of issues in implementing the EF mount. There is a lot of talk about this. If Canon manages to engineer a full-frame mirrorless camera with EF mount, thus allowing us to use our beloved EF lenses on a smaller and hopefully performing body, it will be a winner. Imagine what you could do with a MILC that goes along with your EF lenses. There is serious a chance we may see this.
  • The latest bit of info I got suggests Canon will announce a full-frame mirrorless camera with a sensor having a resolution of 36-38MP.
  • A possible announcement date is around Photokina 2018, which happens in September.

Is the Canon EOS M1 the company’s upcoming full-frame mirrorless camera? [CW2]

We were first to report Canon’s working on a full-frame mirrorless camera, and that early prototypes were undergoing first tests. Well, there are some news.

A new rumor suggests those prototypes have gone out of the labs and are no longer accessible only to Canon’s engineers. Though, so it is told, no prototype has been handled to trusted photographers so far. This camera is murmured to have the moniker EOS M1.

Apparently there will be a big marketing push when the EOS M1 will go to market. Which makes sense. If Canon is set to launch a prosumer mirrorless camera with a FF sensor and a serious set of features, then they will do it with much fanfare.

The rumor isn’t very clear if the EOS M1 will have an APS-C or a FF sensor. However, speculation points to a FF sensor, and to a seriously pro-oriented feature set. Let’s hope it is true.

Nikon working on full-frame mirrorless camera, patents suggest (and where is Canon’s?)

While the Canon community is eagerly waiting to know more (or at least something really reliable) about the long rumored (and much wished) Canon full-frame mirrorless camera (all rumors), we learn that Nikon is also working on such a camera.

Two Nikon patents for 50mm f/0.9 and 35mm f/1.2 lenses specifically designed to be featured on a full-frame mirrorless camera have been spotted. It is a hint that Nikon has such a camera on a blueprint at least.

We found similar patents filed by Canon in the past (1 | 2), and even a patent for an EF/EF-S adapter for a full-frame mirrorless camera. I just wish we would know something more. The latest rumor regarding Canon’s full-frame mirrorless camera is here, I sum it up:
