Canon EOS 7D Mark III to feature 30MP sensor and 4K [CW2]

canon rumorscanon rumors

Edit: I made a dumb typo in the title. It should have been “…and 4K” and not “and DPAF”. Has been corrected.

This is the first Canon EOS 7D Mark III tidbit I get (thanks). My source suggests the Canon EOS 7D Mark III will feature a 30MP sensor.

The Canon EOS 7D Mark III will most likely be announced next year during summer. It’s very early for reliable rumors. However, this one is at least plausible so I decided to post it.

A 30MP sensor on the EOS 7D Mark III is in the realm of possible. The EOS 7D Mark II features a 20MP sensor, an increase of resolution of 8MP 10MP would be in line with Canon’s conservative politics when it comes to upgrading a product.

For all the 4K fanatics out there: we have been told the 7D3 will have 4K. Well, I guess in 2018 4K is mandatory even for Canon. Finally, the EOS 7D Mark III should be more video-oriented than the EOS 7D Mark II.

Stay tuned.

New Canon gear has been registered at certification authority (EOS 90D or 5Ds Mark II too?)

canon rumors

Nokishita posted a list of yet unannounced Canon gear that has been registered at certification authorities, and one of the cameras could point to the EOS 90D or EOS 5Ds R Mark II.

At the bottom at the list there is a camera that could easily be Canon’s modular Multi-Purpose Camera MM100-WS, of which the company recently announced the development. The second camera in the list (D126741) cold be the replacement for the EOS 80D or EOS 5Ds, for the reason that no Bluetooth module is present which leads to the assumption that no GPS is featured. Actually the only Canon DSLRs eligible for replacement that to not have GPS are the EOS 80D and EOS 5Ds. While registrations at certification authorities usually mean an announcement isn’t far away, I doubt Canon will announce the EOS 90D in 2017. Both the EOS 90D and the replacement for the EOS 5Ds will be a 2018 affair.

In the list we also find the PowerShot G1 X Mark III (which I do not longer think will be be announced in September 2017), another PowerShot camera, and the Rebel T7.

A new Canon EF 50mm f/1.4L lens coming in 2018, eventually? [CW2]

ef 50mm
A new EF 50mm f/1.4 lens coming in 2018?

A long running rumor got a fresh up. It’s about a new EF 50mm “L” lens.

Two prototypes of this lens are now rumored to undergo testing, one of them being the EF 50mm f/1.4L ISand the other beng unknown. This lens likely shares some of the design and technology that have gone into the new EF 85mm f/1.4L IS.

A candidate announcement date for the new EF 50mm lenses is sometimes in the first half of 2018.

Apparently, a previous prototype of the lens was discarded because Canon now has new technology to use for the design of the lens.

Take it with a huge grain of salt.

Canon PowerShot G1 X Mark III coming mid October, 2017?

Powershot G1 X Mark Iii

So far the Canon PowerShot G1 X Mark III was rumored for September, 2017. A new rumor from the web suggests it will be mid October, 2017 (October 17 is actually speculated)

We still know as much as nothing but a few bits about the Canon PowerShot G1 X Mark III. We can be sure of an announcement (bar the date) because it showed up at a registration authority, which in our experience is a pretty good sign that the announcement can’t be far away.

However, it’s very likely that the PowerShot G1 X Mark III will have an APS-C sensor. This has been confirmed to us several times. Then there is a patent for a lens that may refer to the PowerShot G1 X Mark III.

The list below is all we have got specification-wise:

  • 24mp APS-C Sensor (was 1.5″ sensor)
  • Dual Pixel AF
  • DIGIC 7
  • 24-120mm lens (35mm equivalent)

We keep you posted, stay tuned!
