Previously July 2, 2020, was the candidate date. Now the same source suggests July 9, 2020, as the Canon EOS R5 announcement date. And it’s not just about the EOS R5.

On July 9, 2020, the following Canon gear is expected to be announces:

• Canon EOS R5 (all rumors)
• Canon EOS R6 (all rumors)
• Canon RF 50mm f/1.8 IS STM
• Canon RF 70-200mm f/4L IS USM
• Canon RF 85mm f/2 Macro IS STM
• Canon RF 100-500mm f/4-7.1L IS USM
• Canon RF 600mm f/11 DO IS STM
• Canon RF 800mm f/11 DO IS STM
• Teleconverter RF 1.4x
• Teleconverter RF 2x

A new Canon EOS R5 price rumor also popped up, and suggests what might be the price of the R5 in Europe, i.e. €4,500. The source claims to have seen an official Canon price list for Europe.

Does this make the rumored price of less than US$4,000 less plausible? It seems so. Although some people is making rather elaborate but still reliable calculation involving VAT to permute the €4,500 to US$4,000, there is obviously a possibility that the EOS R5 might well be over US$4,000 in the USA.

The Canon EOS R6 and Canon EOS R5 announcement is getting closer by the day, July 2, 2020, the most likely date. And EOS R6 and EOS R5 preorders might start soon too.

Latest has it that you will be able to put EOS R6 and EOS R5 preorders by mid July 2020. The following kits will be available for preorder:

• Canon EOS R5 body
• Canon EOS R6 body
• Canon EOS R5 kit with RF 24-105mm USM lens
• Canon EOS R6 kit with RF 24-105mm USM lens
• Canon EOS R6 kit with RF 24-105mm STM lens

Be aware that it is very likely that Canon will not be able to ship the EOS R5 and EOS R6 in huge quantities at first, as consequence of supply chain issues because of the global pandemic.

All we know about the Canon EOS R5 is neatly listed here. About the EOS R6 we know less (all rumors here and rumored specifications here), The EOS R6 will be a more entry-level oriented camera with a 20MP sensor. 4K is rumored to be on board.

After the EOS R6 and EOS R5 announcement (and maybe along with them) we expect Canon to announce a bunch of RF lenses for the EOS R system.

Here is the latest rumor about the highly anticipated Canon EOS R6 and Canon EOS R5 announcement date. It’s getting closer.

The Canon EOS R6 and Canon EOS R5 announcement is now rumored to happen on July 2, 2020, give or take a day. July 6 is also rumored as possible date albeit less likely. There shouldn’t any new delay or postponing of the announcement So, it’s a month to go.

Both cameras should be announced together. However, it seems clear now that there will a limited availability for both cameras at the beginning (first months?) due to the global pandemic.
