Canon cinema EOS C300 Mark III

A rumor from a new source (thanks), which reach also other places. It’s suggested Canon may soon announce the Canon EOS C300 Mark III, possibly before NAB 2018.

These specifications are rumored:

  • new 6K sensor (though 4k video only
  • up to 120 fps in 4K, internal + external Raw
  • new developed on-sensor image stabilization
  • price tag above current C300 Mark II (will not be discontinued)

Stay tuned.

Canon EOS 7D Mark III set to be announced in March 2018?

canon rumorscanon rumors

Latest rumor about the Canon EOS 7D Mark III has it that a March 2018 announcement is set for Canon’s next top APS-C DSLR.

A March 2018 announcement, though a bit early imo, is plausible. In April 2018 there is NAB show, which would be a nice stage to display the EOS 7D Mark III.

Moreover, the EOS 7D Mark III is said to feature 4K video (which we leaked first back in September). C-Log might also be on board.

Finally, what about sensor resolution? A few month ago we got word it ,may be a sensor with around 28MP resolution. The new rumor quotes a “first time sensor technology in a Canon DSLR”., which sound very much like a buzz word to me, and is something we hear very often when new Canon DSLRs are rumored. Each new Canon DSLR generation has in some way a new sensor technology.

What do you think, will we see the EOS 7D Mark III in March 2018?

More Canon cameras to be announced soon (EOS 3000D and EOS 4000D)

Canon Rumors

The EOS M50 and the EOS 2000D aren’t the only new and upcoming Canon DSLRs. Two more DSLRs have been registered at the Eurasian Economic Commission.

Canon will soon announced the EOS 3000D (registration document) and the EOS 4000D (registration document). Both DSLRs will be available as body only option, and as kit with EF-S 18-55mm IS II and EF-S 18-55mm DC III lenses.

When will all this new gear be announced? We are pretty sure January (CES 2018) or February (CP+ 2018) 2018 are the months when Canon will announce the EOS M50, EOS 2000D, EOS 3000D, EOS 4000D to the general public.

Btw, what is Canon doing with all these 4-digit, entry-level DSLRs? Isn’t it a bit too much to offer so many entry-level DSLRs?

The Canon EOS M50 may be a midrange MILC, comes in 2 colors & 2 kits (and there is also an EOS 2000D/Rebel T7 coming)

eos m50

Registrations of unreleased Canon gear showed up at the Eurasian Economic Commission. You can see the document above.

We already know that Canon will announce a new MILC named EOS M50. From the document above we learn the EOS M50 will come in two colors (black and white), and in two kits, respectively with the 15-45mm IS STM and the 18-150 IS STM lenses. The EOS M50 registration document can be seen here

Where will the EOS M50 be positioned in Canon’s mirrorless line-up? Given the two digits in the name, the the EOS M50 will most likely be positioned between the EOS M100 and the EOS M5/M6. A midrange MILC from Canon, so to say.

Another Canon camera was registered at the Eurasian Economic Commission, the EOS 2000D. Given that the EOS 2000D will replace the EOS 1300D (Rebel T6 in USA) it’s no surprise it comes as a kit with the  EF-S 18-55mm IS II lens. The EOS 2000D will most likely be named Rebel T7 in the States. The EOS 2000D registration document is here.

Canon set to announce a new high ISO, multi-purpose camera soon? (that would be the ME20F-SHN)

ME20F-SHN

Canon ME20F-SH at a glance:

  • Up to 4 Million ISO & 12 Stops DR
  • Full Frame 35mm CMOS Sensor
  • Canon DIGIC DV 4
  • Full HD up to 60p
  • HD/3G-SDI & HDMI Connectors
  • Canon Locking Cinema EF Lens Mount

One of Canon’s less discussed imaging products is the ME20F-SH, a multi-purpose camera with a full-frame sensor and ISO capabilities up to 4M. The ME20F-SH is a specialised camera, it sells for $20,000, and is used for pretty cool applications. There is a more affordable version, the Canon ME200S-SH, selling at $5000. It’s still a full-frame sensor but with less ISO performance.

According to what we can deduce from a tweet by Nokishita, Canon may soon announce what appears to be either a replacement or an addition to this particular family of cameras, the ME20F-SHN. Does the “N” stay for “network”? No clue so far.

Canon set to announce a flash for mirrorless shooters in 2018?

mirrorless

A few weeks ago some new and unreleased Canon gear was spotted through the registration at a certification authority. Among these gear was a flash. A new rumor states this new Speedlite is

[…] geared towards smaller cameras and mirrorless shooters, but give prosumer level features

I assume a flash geared towards MILCs means a flash with a small form factor.

Apparently this flash was already scheduled to get announced Summer 2017. For unknown reasons it has been delayed. The announcement may happen in January or February 2018, along with the also recently spotted EOS M50, Canon’s upcoming new entry in the EOS M family, and a camera we know nothing about (so far).

Stay tuned.
