Back in August 2020 Canon was victim of a hacker attack on their networks. It was a ransomware attack and employee data was stolen by the criminals.

Now, as Bloomberg Law reports, Canon has agreed to settle all claims over the breach of employee data:

Canon USA Inc. would pay up to $7,500 for monetary losses and $300 for out-of-pocket expenses to each victim of an August 2020 data breach that compromised the personal information of employees and their beneficiaries, under a proposed deal filed in federal court.

Nine named plaintiffs alleged in a proposed class action that the breach was caused by Canon’s failure to encrypt their information or use other adequate measures to protect it. They also alleged the company failed to provide adequate notice to affected employees.

Information exposed in the breach included names, Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, government-issued identification …

The stolen data concerned all Canon employees who were working for the company from 2005 until the year of the attack.

Is This The Upcoming Canon RF 24-50mm F4.5-6.3 IS STM Lens?

rf 24-50mm

An image surfaced on Instagram, allegedly it shows the upcoming Canon RF 24-50mm F4.5-6.3 IS STM (image on top). But is it real?

For the time being we have no indications the image might be a fake (nor to we have indications it might not be a fake). In any case: take it with a grain of salt. Regarding the watermark, it seems to be sort of joke to a well known rumor site.

What do you think, image real or fake?

  • Dual CFexpress Type A/SD Card Slots

Photographic authority DPReview reviewed the Sony a7R V. All in all a very positive review, with a “Gold Award” and a 92/100 score. Not bad. From their conclusion:

[the a7R V] builds on a camera that was already good, and still improves almost every detail (stills/video switch, menus, video capabilities, screen, faster card slots) to end up being a significantly more complete camera. In that regard it feels like something of a milestone in Sony’s camera history […]

If your photography benefits from high levels of detail capture, the a7R V is a camera that will do all it can to help you get the results you want, and those results can be spectacular.

[…]

The Sony a7R V is a high resolution mirrorless camera, combining an excellent sensor with a powerful autofocus system in a body refined over multiple generations of improvement. It lends itself to a wide range of photography, from portraiture and landscape work to wedding and events. Its cropped, slow readout 8K video is the only real weakspot in an otherwise hugely capable camera.
