On September 24, 2020, Canon will announce the Canon C70, the company’s first Cinema camera with an RF mount (image on top).

Some specifications for the upcoming Canon C70 leaked over the web. Here they are:

  • Super 35mm 4K DGO sensor (same as the Cinema EOS C300 Mark III)
  • No IBIS
  • RF Mount
  • Internal ND (10 Stops)
  • CLog 2 & CLog 3
  • 4:2:2 10bit onto SD cards up to 4K120 and 2K180
  • No RAW capability internally at launch
  • BP-A batteries

These Three Canon RF Lenses Are Scheduled For 2021 (possibly)

We got a tip about a bunch of Canon RF mount lenses that Canon might announce in 2021.

Our source suggested that Canon is set to release three RF mount lenses within 2021:

All in all the three lenses are at least plausible. We hope to learn more soon.

There are other RF mount lenses rumored to come in 2021:

  • RF 18-45mm IS STM
  • RF 24mm Macro IS
  • RF 100-400mm IS USM

We can expect some more gear announcement by Canon within 2020.

It seems two different timeframes are to expect for announcements, one in August/September and another one towards November and December. However, to us it seems weird that Canon might announce gear in December, and August is almost over (but still rumored for announcements).

A bunch of Canon Cinema cameras with RF mount were rumored since a while, now the specifications for the Canon EOS R300 leaked over the web.

The Canon EOS R300 might get announced in September, or maybe even in late August. These are the rumored specifiations:

  • Super 35mm 4K DGO sensor (same as Cinema EOS C300 Mark III)

  • RF Mount
  • Internal ND (10 Stops)
  • CLog 2 & CLog 3

Another Canon patent application for an RF mount lens, that’s a lens for the Canon EOS R full frame mirrorless system.

Hi Lows Note spotted Canon patent application 2020-118816A. The patent application describes the optical formulas for an RF 200-800mm f/6-8.5 lens.

  • Focal length: 199.97 399.99 784.76 mm
  • F number: 6.00 6.80 8.50
  • Half angle of view: 6.17 3.10 1.58
  • Image height: 21.64 21.64 21.64 mm
  • Lens length: 285.44 355.65 385.65 mm
  • Back focus: 22.57 43.72 83.86 mm

Interesting: the patent application also discusses optical formulas for a RF 100-500mm f/4.5-7.1 IS USM lens. We guess it might well refer to to just announced RF 100-500mm f/4.5-7.1L IS.
