The Canon patent application seems to discuss optical formulas for various zoom lenses for the RF mount, and for APS-C sensors.

Last month we hear about some pretty dope Canon Cinema that are rumored to get announced in 2021. Here are the RF mount Cinema prime lenses that might come along.

In April 2021 we had this rumor about upcoming Canon Cinema cameras: EOS C700DR (4K), EOS C500S (8K) and EOS C300S (8K). A set of RF mount prime lenses are now also rumored to come soon, likely along with the Cinema gear above. Canon Rumors reports the following lenses:

  • RF 14mm T/1.5
  • RF 18mm T/1.5
  • RF 24mm T/1.3
  • RF 35mm T/1.3
  • RF 50mm T/1.3
  • RF 85mm T/1.3
  • RF 100mm T/1.5
  • RF 135mm T/1.5
  • and some compact zooms and telephotos for the RF mount

Unknown so far if Canon will make a development announcement or the real thing. All these lenses are rumored for 2021. When is another take but NAB 2021 in Fall seems a good candidate.

This is a lens rumored since long. And a lens we never doubted would come to the RF mount: the Canon Rf 35mm f/1.2L.

This is a lens that will not be missed in Canon’s RF lineup. A pertinent Canon patent application has also already been spotted. Once more the global pandemic is made responsible for the fact the RF 35mm f/1.2L wasn’t already released. Expect this lens to get announced towards the end of 2021, maybe along with the Canon EOS R3.
