Canon Patent: In Body Image Stabilization For EOS M Or PowerShot Camera

After all those Canon patents referring to RF mount lenses, here is a different one: IBIS on a small camera body.

Canon patent application US20210105391 (USA) discusses In Body Image Stabilization (IBIS) for a small camera body. According to the drawings in the patent literature it’s either an EOS M camera or a PowerShot camera. IBIS coming to the EOS M system is already rumored. This patent seems to consolidate it.

Keep your optical surfaces clean with the Sensei Optics Care and Cleaning Kit. This kit contains a pack of lens tissues, a lens cleaning pen, a bulb air blower, a paint brush, a lipstick brush, lens cleaning fluid, and a see-through mesh travel case to put everything in. This kit can be used to clean a variety of different optics and glass. You can use the air bulb blower and any of the three supplied brushes to initially remove dust from the surface. Sensei recommends applying a small amount of the alcohol- and ammonia-free cleaning fluid directly to the lens tissue. Then, gently rub in small circular motions to remove stubborn smudges or fingerprints from the glass. For those more stubborn blemishes or smudges, the lens pen is very effective.

And here is another Canon patent application for telephoto zoom RF mount lenses. No doubt left that Canon is heavily investing in the EOS R full frame mirrorless system.

Canon patent application P2021-56407A (Japan) discusses optical formulas and designs for a bunch of telephoto zoom lenses for the RF mount. However, one of the optical designs listed below is for an APS-C sensor, so either for the EOS M (likely) or for Canon’s crop sensor DSLR lineup. The patent application was spotted by Hi Lows Note.

DPReview TV reviews the Canon EOS R5 firmware as of version 1.3. Under scrutiny are the new C-Log 3 gamma profile, the 1080/120p footage, and the new Raw lite video codec. Enjoy.
